A nice benefit to cloth diapering…

diaper cover

When we decided to cloth diaper this time around, I expected it to be hard work, and I expected it to be messier than disposable diapering. I imagined that I would have to sacrifice convenience and cleanliness in order to save some money and the environment. What a pleasant surprise to discover that I’m completely wrong!

We have definitely dealt with our share of leaks using the cloth, although most of the time I can figure out what went wrong because it’s usually due to human error and not because of the diaper. But I’d rather deal with 100 leaky diapers and wet outfits than those nasty blow-outs that go up the baby’s back and down the legs. So I am happy to report that so far, blow-outs have been a very rare occurrence! And it’s not as if this baby poops less than his brother did, because he has really had some impressive ones. I really credit the cloth diapers with containing the mess (and saving his cute little outfits!)
