Sebastian and I had a great time making “peanut butter candy” today. They are tasty, protein-packed treats that are slightly sweet, and easy for kids to make. In fact at one point while we were rolling them in the sugar, he said “These are my candies, mama, and I’ll shape them the way I want to.”
Here is the recipe, which I totally threw together on the fly, so feel free to mess around with the ingredients and please post your results!
1 cup peanut butter
1 cup Grape Nuts cereal
1/3 cup honey
Powdered sugar
Mix together peanut butter and honey until well blended and of a whipped consistency. Add the Grape Nuts and mix well. Let sit for about 30 minutes while the Grape Nuts soften in the peanut butter mixture.
Roll into balls (or whatever shape your child wants to!) and roll through the powdered sugar until evenly coated. Put into the fridge until chilled, which will harden the candies up. (They are very yummy while still soft, though, so feel free to enjoy them right away, too!)
